1st Birthday Hamper Giveaway
So we turned ONE at the end of August and thought what better way to celebrate it than give you guys a chance to win a hamper full of Scottish goodies. Keep reading for a list of who we’ve selected for our hamper.
How to Win
First things first, how do you WIN this great prize? Well you can enter your details below and share for more entries into the competition.
Now for the good part. A brief run down of everyone we have included in our hamper.
What’s In the Hamper
We are big fans of Galloway Chilli. Sheena is the brains behind this fab range and is working hard behinds the scenes to create new flavours and different products to feed our love of chillis. Galloway Chillis was formed as she was fed up not being able to buy a range of British chillis and decided to do something about it, and boy are we glad she did. We love the chilli jam which we’ve tried in spaghetti bolognese, with goats cheese and haggis, smoked cheese and even fresh smoked Scottish salmon. Hopefully you’ll feel the same as we do after your first try.
No hamper would be complete without something from the Marshmallow Lady. Made in Edinburgh down in Stockbridge, there is a whole range of flavours to pick from. We had originally bought chocolate mousse flavour marshmallows for the hamper but they had a little accident and ended up in our tummies 🙂 So to try something different we’ve picked out the Innis and Gunn Rum beer flavour and creme de menthe with mint chocolate on top.
We first tried Perthshire oatcakes when we visited Foodies Festival earlier in the summer. The range of flavours on offer is fab and our favourites were the chilli and black pepper which we’ve included in the hamper. All their oatcakes are handmade using 100% Scottish ingredients. Perthshire Oatcakes is a family run business and they love what they do!
Galloway Lodge have kindly gifted these two fine preserves to be included in our giveaway hamper. They use only the finest ingredients and cook in small batches using traditional methods – this guarantees a quality product with an authentic taste. They are well known worldwide for their infamous Poacher’s Pickle. Producers of award winning Preserves for over 40 years Galloway Lodge has consistently provided a top quality product to some of the UK’s leading hotels, chefs, and retail outlets. Founded in 1971 by Nigel Hesketh Galloway Lodge preserves is now run by Fiona Hesketh and her son Ruaridh Hesketh.
A multi-award winning healthy, home-grown and wonderfully versatile cold pressed rapeseed oil infused with Lemon. It tastes delicious straight on a salad or in a dressing – try it on a beetroot and goat’s cheese salad. Fantastic drizzled over roast chicken or fish. Can be used in any type of cooking, even baking. My favourite is using it to bake fish. It leaves a wonderful lemon taste!
The guys over at Trotter’s Independent Condiments also were kind enough to give us some products to include in the giveaway hamper. We tried all three and can honestly say they are fantastic. Byam Trotter started his business when he spotted a gap in the market and wanted to be his own boss. After what we’ve tasted, it was definitely the right choice and these would work well incorporated into recipes or even just with cheese and crackers!
We couldn’t resist buying tablet to put in the hamper! Not only do The Galloway Fudge Company make tablet, they make fantastic rum and raisin fudge, macaroons and flavoured marshmallows! If you see them at a local farmer’s market or in your local shop, it’s definitely worth picking up something.
We love cheese! If we could eat it every night and not put on weight we probably would! Smoked cheese is a big favourite, along with chilli and blue cheeses. We picked up this little fella at Eat Drink Discover Scotland and thought whilst we were at it picked up some chilli and mature cheese for ourselves. We loved the smokie taste of the cheese but it still retains a lovely creamy smooth taste. The packaging as well got us. It’s very eye catching and the wax coating means it’ll travel well.
Chocolate stout. Who could not love it?? We received this in a hamper not so long ago and the smell, flavour and taste is excellent. Girls if you win the hamper, make sure you at least taste this. I think it’ll change your thoughts on stout.
So that concludes the end of our fab list of goodies. We are very tempted to keep all these for ourselves but thought what better way to thank you guys for staying with us over the last year than let you taste some of our favourite things.
We’ve also included some Taylors Hot Java coffee, haggis, Mackies crisps and Stoats cereal bars 🙂
