Old Forester Bourbon Cocktail at The Voyage of Buck
Celebrate Thanksgiving with The Voyage of Buck and Old Forester Bourbon
The cocktail was designed by the team at The Voyage Of Buck, an art-deco speakeasy style cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh’s West End. The rich but smooth taste of Old Forester is perfectly complimented with honey and sage strained over ice, resulting in a long, warm finish.
Introduced by George Garvin Brown in 1870, Old Forester is the only bourbon continuously distilled by the same company before, during and after Prohibition. In 1920, at the start of Prohibition, many distilleries closed but Old Forester held one of only 6 federal licenses to continue producing whisky for medicinal purposes. This long-held experience in whisky-making is carried through into the Old Forester bourbon today, and can be tasted in its classically rich flavour and smooth character.
Recipe: Ginger and Sage Highball
- 40ml Old Forester
- 15ml Honey and Sage Syrup
- Dehydrated lemon wheel
- Sprig of sage
- Fevertree Ginger Ale
- Shake Old Forester, honey and sage syrup together and double strain over cubed ice
- Top with Fevertree Ginger Ale
- Garnish with a dehydrated lemon wheel and fresh sage
The cocktail will be available from 15th November at the bar and is priced at £7.50. If you head along to try it, let us know your thoughts.
