Wedding planning – Part 3
Here at Edinburger HQ, it’s hard not to get caught up in all the wedding chat. I think sometimes Mr E is wondering what he’s gotten himself into, but I think he secretly likes all the chat and when it comes to the food and cake tasting he’ll be loving it. One thing we have to be careful about is the amount of money we’re spending. We’re not only saving for a wedding but also getting our own place. So this time next year I reckon we’ll feel rich and wonder how we managed to save all that money and still manage to eat out and buy the occasional nice thing.
Thankfully I’m good at seeking out a good bargain and don’t mind admitting if i’ve picked up a bargain, sometimes I’m rather proud if I manage to get something at a lesser price than I’ve seen advertised elsewhere. It seems that thrifty brides are on the rise, as many realise there are similar things out there for less.
In fact my latest find was wooden table decorations which are massively expensive to buy, I discovered a local supplier who hires them out. It’s much cheaper and actually what am I going to do with 12 wooden circles after the big day?! I think my dad would be eyeing them up for the open fire at home, if he could get his hands on them and that quite literally would be money going up in smoke.
My voucher codes, recently did some research and discovered that 63% of couples now hire or buy second hand for their wedding day. With the average cost of a wedding now coming in at just under £24,000 it’s no wonder that couples are seeking to cut costs where they can. Because of this we have seen a rise in a number of sites on which brides sell their wedding day to recoup some of the money spent on the big day.
It’s on these sites that I have found some cracking bargains and inspiration for our big day. Things like a chalkboard and easel to guide guests on the big day and also vases and bottles for table decorations. I like to think of it as recycling and when our big day is over, I will most likely be uploading some items and hoping I can help out other brides.
I’d love to tell you about the other bargains that I’ve found but well that would give away too much about our big day. In fact if you can wait 350 days we’ll be able to share it with you all.
