Event: Bowhouse Foodie Weekend Fife

July 7, 2017 by Her Leave a Comment

FOODIES TO FLOCK TO FIFE FOR BOWHOUSE FOOD WEEKEND
22ND & 23RD JULY

Award-winning Gin, Cheese and Veal producers are just a taster of the many fine food businesses signed to up to showcase their wares at the inaugural Bowhouse Food Weekend (22nd & 23rd July).

Nestled in lush St Monans’ countryside, Bowhouse will host a weekend celebration of the finest food to try and buy, as well as cookery demonstrations from well-known chefs.

Part of the Balcaskie Estate, the picturesque listed barn conversion aims to provide the Kingdom with an all-season destination for inquisitive foodies to explore Fife’s natural larder. It will also provide an inspiring space for food businesses to create their produce, whether that be jams from soft fruit grown in nearby fields, wild game or rape seed oil harvested locally.

One such business is East Neuk-based venture Langoustine the Box, one of the first producers to take a unit at Bownhouse, who will be showcasing shellfish fresh from the waters of Fife over the weekend.

The family-friendly event, hosted in partnership with Fife Farmers’ Market and supported by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and Food from Fife, will also have children’s entertainment on offer, including face painting and a ceilidh courtesy of St Andrews restaurant Forgan’s.

Other exhibitors at the festival include: Allan’s Chilli Sauces, Angele Coffee, Arbroath Smokies, Arran’s Cheese Shop, Balgove Larder, Caurnie Soap Co., Cheesy Toast Shack, Cocoa Tree, Crepe Shack, Cups n Cakes by Monica, Dundee Cheesecakes, Dundee Gin, East Neuk Perinnials, Forgans/Mitchells, GH Barnett, Good Life Veal Company, The Real Hot Chocolate Company, Jude’s Jewels, Langoustine Box, Mara Seaweed, Meadowsweet Organics, Olives & Things, Poco Prosecco, Screaming Peacock, SK Furniture design, St Andrews Brewing Company, St Andrews Farmhouse Cheese, Supernature Rapeseed Oils, Tasty Tatties & Bites, Versatile Vegetable, Yofrog

Toby Anstruther, founding member of Food from Fife added:

“Bowhouse is a place for making food by transforming the raw ingredients from the East Neuk’s farms and waters into exquisite finished products ready for the eager customer. This new initiative aims to replace a missing link in the food chain from farmer to consumer by providing dedicated space for producers as well as a large, covered market where food makers and growers can showcase their produce. It will be a collaborative, creative space where connections are made and businesses and consumers can share their passion for fine food.”

Adding her support is Liz Smith MSP who tweeted:

“Good to read about exciting new Bowhouse Food Weekend in St Monans, showcasing best of Scottish food and drink.”

Free to attend, Bowhouse Food Weekend will take place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July. Further details can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Eventbright.
