Fragata Goodies

September 14, 2015 by Her Leave a Comment

So I used to be one of those people who didn’t eat olives. But now, well there is no stopping me!! We even managed to spend far too much money on olives at last year’s Foodie Festival. So what changed, I think my taste buds and constantly trying them has helped. We had the most amazing olives when in Portugal two years ago. I’m not sure Mr E is now loving no longer getting not only my black pudding but now also olives.

The lovely people at Fragata got in touch with us and asked if we’d like to sample some of their specialty range and of course we said yes!!

You can see from the picture above that there is not only olives but also capers, caperberries and garlic cloves. The snack packs of olives were quickly polished off in lunches and as a quick bite. Very handy to have and if you like olives now and again, handy to have rather than buying a jar. The garlic cloves are very useful. I found myself crushing them into bolognese and saved me ending up with garlicky hands. The selection jars of olives are delicious. The lemon ones especially are great in salads and the oil meant there was no need for a dressing to be added to the salad, a great 2 in 1!! Mr E loved the chilli flavoured olives and the added addition of little chillies in jar gave his salads a little extra kick.

My favourite product has to be the capers and caperberries. I love capers and often find myself standing at the fridge with the jar and a spoon. The only downside to this jar is it’s too small to get a spoon into, but I know they do do a wider jar, for people just like me. I love adding capers into sauces, pasta dishes, actually pretty much anything. The caperberries were new, and when you first try them, it seems a strange mixture of textures. The outside is soft and fleshy and then you bite in further and discover lots of little seeds. These too were eaten on their own and alongside other dishes. They are great on top of pizzas and even just alongside meats and cheese.

We loved our box and can’t wait to try out the rest of their range!
