Larder Box Review

Being busy is no excuse for not being able to cook proper food from scratch.  Thanks to Larder Box who now deliver everything you need for each meal there really is no excuse. They aim to bring great quality, fresh produce straight to your table. With weekly deliveries made on a Monday, they are focusing at present on delivering to areas within the city bypass but I’m sure this will change as they expand. If you do find yourself outwith the delivery area they will deliver to your work if you work within the limits so there really is no excuse. The meat comes in insulated bags and was still cold when Mr Edinburger brought it back from work.

There is a wide range of recipes on the site, which is ever growing and soon they will be adding more vegetarian recipes. If there’s anything you’d like to see more of then they are more than happy for you to contact them and they’ll keep your request in mind.

During our week’s trial of LarderBox we tried recipes which I’ve often thought are too complicated or take too long to cook. It was great just having the ingredients there and all you had to do was prep them. I did miss going out and doing some of the shopping but with a hectic week it was great to know that there was a healthy dinner waiting to be cooked in the fridge.

larder larder7The seared Asian beef with a rice noodle salad was delicious. I’d actually made it the night before and we took it into work the following day for lunch. There were quite a few glances over to see what I was having! I think there was quite a lot of lunch envy going on.

larder4 On the third night we tried Larderbox chicken tikka masala with brown rice and home-made mango salsa. This was my first attempt at making a ‘curry’ from scratch and was amazed at how easy it was. It tasted fantastic the mango salsa was a great addition. The freshness lifted the dish.

larder2 larder3 The fourth and final dish which we tried out was cod and tomato bake with olives and new potatoes. This was probably my favourite dish out of the four which we tried. The tomato based sauce kept the fish nice and moist and cooked olives added a little bit of saltiness to the dish.

We loved our trial of LarderBox and would definitely recommend giving it a try. They source ingredients locally and you can always be sure that you have the freshest produce available. Because they supply exactly the ingredients you need for each recipe there is minimal food wastage which is all too common in modern living. Go on, give it a try. There’s really no excuse now for not eating well!
