Q&A feat with Boe Gin
Who are you and what do you produce?
We are VC2 Brands and we produce a range of gins under the Boe Gin brand they are Boe Gin and BoeGin Liqueurs.
How long have you been in business?
We have been in business since 2002 although Boe Gin was launched 2008.
What’s the story behind the product, why did you decide on gin?
My background is from the licenced trade 10 years ago or so I noticed changes happening in the mainstream on trade with gin brands like Bombay starting to challenge Gordons and the introduction of Hendricks offering gin in a different way was beginning to get traction. We thought there was an opportunity to offer something new to this space.
How do you make your products?
Our products are made by our chosen distiller to our recipes. We have taken time and care to make sure our products are exactly as we want them.
What makes you stand out from other similar products?
Boe Gin our first gin was one of only a very few authentic Scottish Gins we set out to make a classic London Dry Gin with citrus notes, well balanced, smooth and of the highest quality. This gin recipe is now the base for our Boe Violet gin a unique gin infused with Violets. It has a distinctice taste with a violet colour supported with excellent packaging. We have also launched the first of our gin liqueurs Boe Gin Peach & Hiubiscus Gin Liqueur soon to be followed by Scottish Bramble both taste great either straight, over ice, with tonic, preferred mixer of with prosecco.
What’s the best way to serve your products?
Our prefferred serve with Boe Superior Gin is with a tonic of choice and an orange this gives a different twist to a gin and tonic making it slightly sweeter but equally refreshing. Our Boe Violet Gin is ideal with a quality tonice over ice and perhaps a bluberry garnish.
How do you decide what flavours to make?
We continue to look for new innovative ideas with flavours whether that be influenced by trends, ingredients souced locally or something weird wonderful and different.
What’s your favourite product you make and why?
I like all of our products but my favourite at the moment is our Boe Violet Gin I am very please with this product, it offers something very different, looks great in the glass when served, has great packaging and tastes amazing.
Where can we buy your product?
Cash and carries like Booker and Batleys supermarkets such as Asda and specialist retailers.
