Stivys cider review

June 29, 2014 by Her 1 Comment

We were recently asked if we wanted to try two new ciders coming to market.  Seeing as we both love a good cider and it was a nice sunny day, how could we say no.

Stivys, who have brought us their kola flavoured vodka liqueur and sherbet lemon flavour are now working their magic on cider as well.  The two new flavoured ciders are Stivy’s Kola Fruits and Stivy’s Cherry Berry.

The flavours sounded great and I sneaked them open before Mr Edinburger could get his hands on them.

The first one I tried was the Kola Fruits.

I can only liken it to drinking kola cubes. If you remember the kola cubes sweets, that’s exactly what it tastes like. To make each bottle there are four cool, crisp apples, the unique flavour of Kola and lots of magic according to their website. Simply pour over ice for an amazingly refreshing drink and it is exactly that.  It is 4% abv and to be honest, it doesn’t even taste like it has any alcohol in it.  It makes for VERY easy drinking and it perfect for a sunny day, with friends, in someones garden having a BBQ.  For those of you who are feeling slightly more adventurous Stivy’s have come up with some novel serving suggestions.

Stivy’s Kola Cider Float

Ingredients

  • Stivy’s Premium Kola Fruits Cider
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Ice

Method

Add ice to a glass, top up with chilled Stivy’s Premium Kola Fruits Cider.  Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you’re ready to go.

Unfortunately there was no ice cream in the house, otherwise we would have definitely given this a go.

Next up on in the tasting session was Stivy’s Cherry Berry Cider.

This again was very easy to drink and had a nice cherry flavour. It wasn’t overpowering and was very refreshing.  In each bottle there is a tang of cherry, a blast of berry and four cool crisp apples goes to make Stivy’s Cherry Berry Premium Cider.  Again a fantastic summer drink.

If you want to do something a bit more exciting, than pouring it over ice, Stivy’s have a great serving suggestion.

Stivy’s Cherry Berry Cider Cup

Ingredients

  • Stivy’s Premium Cherry Berry Cider
  • 1/2 Lime
  • Fresh mint
  • A small handful of fresh berries
  • Ice

Method

Add the mint, berries, lime and ice to a tall glass and stir to bruise the mint and berries, releasing their flavours.  Top up with chilled Stivy’s Premium Cherry Berry Cider.

These serving suggestions sound great and next time we’re having Stivy’s cider we’ll definitely be giving them a go.

Anyone got any other serving suggestions, then feel free to leave us a comment 🙂

Her x
