The Adamson, St Andrews

May 29, 2015 by Her Leave a Comment

We visited The Adamson during the Easter break after our visit the Eden Mill. We’d heard many great things on twitter and so booked a table. The team at The Adamson had just recently opened their new cocktail bar so we just had to try that out as well. Unfortunately for me I was designated driver for the day but Mr Edinburger and his dad made good work on the cocktails and gin.

adam The food menu is packed full of fresh, quality Scottish ingredients and served up in simple, sometimes delicate dishes to make the most of the flavours on offer. We really did have a hard time choosing what to eat. But eventually we ordered and awaited our food. The Adamson has a relaxed atmosphere and we loved being able to see into the kitchen. Any requests we had such as a cheese board and changing plain fries in truffle fries were fully met and just a glimpse of the great service we received during our visit.

Everything about The Adamson is great. The food was packed full of flavour and was very moreish. My favourite dish was the smoked haddock and crushed potatoes. The smokiness of the haddock and the saltiness of the pancetta work so well together. The rhubarb trifle was fab. I love rhubarb and it was definitely done justice. Not too sweet or bitter, it was well balanced. Mr Edinburger thoroughly enjoyed all of his dishes. He loved the bits of leeks and bacon adding flavour to the mussels he’d ordered and thought the cod was cooked perfectly.

Eventually it was time to go and the place was packed. It’s easy to see what a great job the team at The Adamson have done and it’s telling when the place is pretty busy most nights. They’ve recently won Restaurant of the Year at the 2015 CIS Excellence Awards and it’s very well deserved. We can’t wait for our next trip to St Andrews, this time tho I won’t be driving, instead I’ll be sampling some of the fantastic cocktails on offer!

Her x
