How do you eat your square sausage??

October 8, 2015 by Her Leave a Comment

It seems like a wee while ago now since I went to a blogger evening all about We Hae Meat and the humble steak slice. For us steak slice or square sausage as some of you might know it better as has been a breakfast staple and is normally found inside a morning roll with egg, bacon and or black pudding. This evening was all about changing our minds and finding other tasty ways to cook steak slice.

We Hae Meat are a family run butchery business based on a farm, Cairnhill, in the beautiful Girvan Valley, in the heart of Ayrshire, South West Scotland. Carlyn did a great job of explaining how the farm operates and it was clear to see that she is very passionate about the farm and the product they produce.

Carlyn had come up with a number of great ways to use steak slice, meatballs and in fajita wraps. My personal favourite was the meat balls, you really wouldn’t have known it was steak slice. Each slice makes between 2-3 meat balls depending on how meaty you like them.

There was much discussion between everyone but I think overall the favourite dish was the meat balls. We Hae Meat have added some flavour to the simple steak slice, you can find a BBQ flavour and a chive and onion flavour. My personal favourite was the BBQ flavour, I could see it going down very well on a Sunday morning or any other morning.

After the event we were given a goodie bag to take home and try out other products in the We Hae Meat range. We loved the black eye (steak slice with a circle of black pudding in it) and the pies were great. Packed full of meat and flavour. Definitely something we’ll be buying again. We loved the steak slice and can safely say it’s now taken over as our steak slice of choice thanks to it’s meaty flavour and great quality.

How do you use your steak slice/square sausage/slice sausage, let us know any tasty recipes and we’ll share them with everyone else!

Her x
